What might be the reasons for burrs, aluminium sticking, or incomplete cutting occurring during the cutting process?

  •  Burrs primarily appear at the entry and exit points of the cut surface, being particularly pronounced at the exit. This is fundamentally caused by the saw blade tearing rather than cleanly severing the material edge during cutting.
    Primary causes and countermeasures:
  • Blade issues (most common cause):
    Blade dulling: This is the most probable cause. Dulled teeth cannot cut effectively and instead ‘tear’ the aluminium. Solution: Replace or regrind the blade immediately.
  • Incorrect tooth profile selection: Saw blade tooth profiles (such as trapezoidal teeth TCD, alternating teeth ALT, etc.) are designed for specific cutting requirements. For instance, trapezoidal teeth should be used for cutting solid thick aluminium profiles, as they first create a groove before finishing the cut, effectively reducing burrs; whereas alternating teeth are suitable for cutting thin-walled aluminium tubes.

  • Solution: Consult your saw blade supplier to select the optimal tooth profile for your material.

    Poor-quality saw blades: Inferior blades fail to meet standards for steel quality, dynamic balance, and grinding precision, compromising cutting performance. Solution: Invest in branded saw blades.
